   One of the most significant advances of the last few decades in dentistry has been the drill...   Perhaps the most incredible advance as we near the year 2000 is it's almost silent replacement!   At Advanced General Dentistry we are proud to be among the first in the Chesapeake Bay area to offer:

   Air Abrasion is the most comfortable dentistry, almost invariably no need for injection, virtually silent, and no drill!   This is the most high-tech, state-of-the-art system available today.   For certain cavities, our air abrasion system allows us to remove the decay thus preparing cavities to be filled ... without the need for a drill.   Although it can not be used for teeth needing extensive restoration, (inlays, crowns, etc.), the air abrasion system is rapidly becoming more versatile, and is remarkably well suited for small to medium size cavities.

No Needle: Generally an injection is unnecessary.   The only time there would be any sensation is if a tooth is very air or cold sensitive anyway.   Unless your tooth is already cold sensitive, it is very unlikely that you would have any unpleasant sensation requiring anesthetic.   During the last 700 cavities, only 3 patients requested anesthetic... Roughly half of one percent!

Almost Silent: Air abrasion literally "wipes" decay away with a gentle stream of concentrated air and a mild abrasive.   The technology is almost silent, with the minimal sound of air passing over the tooth.

No Drill: Hardly a day goes by without several patients asking, "when are they going to get rid of the drill"?
